Earl Oglebay left his beloved Waddington Farm to the city of Wheeling for the purposes of public recreation. Editorialized as “A Magnificent Gift to the People” and as “Our Great Opportunity,” the Oglebay Foundation is a non-profit corporation devoted to inspiring donors to invest in Oglebay and Wheeling Park. The Foundation raises strategic support through donations from private individuals, corporations, and foundation giving. 100% of every donation is invested in your parks.

Offer rental of our beautiful, 97 year old barn for weddings & any special occasion. Pool table, ping pong, dining and dancing areas are available in the barn. Kitchen is equipped with counter space area, refrigerator and freezers for ice, as well

as a large 16 ft serving table. We have 60″ round tables with 8 chairs to a table. 200 maximum fits comfortably in the barn. We have a ceremony area with chairs available for the ceremony. Many extras are available and the barn is equipped with white lighting throughout the barn.

*YOU CAN BRING IN YOUR OWN CHOICE OF CATERERS AND DJ’S

Outdoor activities include Mini-Golf, Corn Toss, Ladder ball, and a play area for the kids

The Strand Theatre

In 1920, owner Merton A. Sybert opened the Strand Theatre. The Strand showed first-run films until its closure in 1968, and then again during a twenty-year period of operation from 1976 to 1996. In 2002, the nonprofit Strand Theatre Preservation Society was founded to restore and reopen the Strand as a performing arts venue. With the help of funding from the State Historic Preservation Office, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and other sources, and with work from numerous volunteers, the long process began – The Strand Theatre Preservation Society was incorporated on December 4, 2000, for the purpose of restoring the historic Strand Theatre to its original grandeur and provide Moundsville & the surrounding areas with a facility to house all expressions of the arts.
