Welcome to Main Street Morgantown! Our beautiful city is home to over 30,000 people. Main Street Morgantown (MSM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the continued revitalization of downtown Morgantown and the Historic Wharf District. Downtown Morgantown is an attractive, clean, safe center of commerce, government and education. Since its founding in 1984, MSM has been involved in the creation of 1,300 new jobs, the opening of more than 200 new businesses and over $126 million dollars in investments. Main Street Morgantown is a “grass-roots” organization which works primarily in the areas of historic preservation and economic development.
Together We Will Work Toward the Revitalization of Downtown Morgantown
Main Street Morgantown is a “grass roots” organization governed by a Board of Directors and staffed by an Executive Director. Four committees form the heart of the organization. Together these committees work to provide a free flowing, efficient form of volunteerism.
ECONOMIC VITALITY – focuses on capital, incentives, and other economic and financial tools to assist new and existing businesses, catalyze property development, and create a supportive environment for entrepreneurs and innovators that drive local economies.
PROMOTION – positions the downtown or commercial district as the center of the community and hub of economic activity, while creating a positive image that showcases a community’s unique characteristics.
DESIGN – supports a community’s transformation by enhancing the physical and visual assets that set the commercial district apart.
ORGANIZATION – involves creating a strong foundation for a sustainable revitalization effort, including cultivating partnerships, community involvement, and resources for the district.
