Clay Battelle Health Services Ribbon Cutting

On Monday August 20th, Rebecca Thomas CEO of the Clay Battelle Health Services Association preformed a ribbon cutting. With the cutting, the center was formally opened in its Burton location. The original health facility was opened in Blacksville in 1973 with a dentist. Joe Tuttle, the CEO in those first years had a mission to provide primary health care for individuals, especially in rural areas.

Then in 1979, the Blacksvilleás Medical Services Operations leased the old Burton school building from the county commission for $1 a year. Later, that number raised to $100 a month. The school building was originally built in 1910. By the 1980s, it began to need more upkeep to maintain the facility. When the organization made efforts to further renovate the building, the process became much more complicated when it was deemed a historical sight.

The total patient load for the two centers is 5000. Blacksville has a dental center. Burton will see medical and behavioral health patients. The facilities have a long history and if the past is any indication the Clay Battelle Health Service Center will be a welcome addition to the area. To contact the center, call (304) 775-4671 or go to cbhealthwv.org
